Stripped back to the four walls and lovingly restored, the barn was to have a modern and contemporary style finish. We were briefed to guide the client through the interior detailing and finishing with the specification of all finishes, fittings and equipment.
Dividing the huge spaces are vast etched glass sliding walls and panels with etched stainless steel ironmongery living in contrast with the existing charm and character of the oak ceiling trusses and rough stone of the original building. The new oak timber floor by Schotten & Hansen married the two periods together both practically and aesthetically.
Cutting edge kitchen and bathroom design work eclectically throughout with Stark complementing the client’s existing period roll top bath and glossy storage by Tissetanta in orange and ruby red. The orange accentuates the ArmaCoat pitted, polished plaster wall and Cole & Son’s paisley turquoise wall pattern seen through the duplex open void to the gallery and first floor bedrooms.
Your eye lead by the dominant black flue of the chimney place, the barn provides the perfect backdrop for the excitement of colour and texture in the client’s own dramatic oil canvases and their retro style comes through in the furnishings and finishing.
