At the heart of the hotel soft textured walls accentuate the warmth of the fire and sumptuous upholstery and cushions ensure the guest’s reception is welcoming and comfortable. The large drawing room is divided into small groupings of furniture, designed to accommodate as many or few guests as required at any one time. Each area is as attractive as the next - so no concerns in locating the best seat in the house!
Traditional upholstery is covered in a collection of modern fabrics, working together to create texture, tone and interest - with the practicality required by the hotel. The beautiful fabrics come from a vast collection held in our studio library including Pierre Frey, Zimmer & Rohde, Lelievre and Noblis. The window treatment adds pattern and life using Lelievre for the roman blinds and Larsen for the fabric.
Our customised carpet design runs through the main areas of the hotel, tying the rooms and the decor together as a whole. The rooms’ ambiance would not be complete without the necessary use of subdued and task lighting ensuring you find a spot to read or doze off - as is your pleasure!
The latest addition to Gilpin Lodge’s welcoming lounges and restaurants, the cocktail bar provides an exciting presentation of modem finishes and fittings whilst continuing to uphold the hotels own characteristics of warmth and excellent hospitality.
Polished pitted plaster and imperial granite bar finishes marry with Cole & Son traditional paper designs, Tektura's bronze shagreen wall texture and soft fumed and flamed oak flooring. The embellishment of Jim Thompson’s silk drapes ties the scheme together with accents of pattern in the seating cushions. The soft tones of the woven bar stools and lounge chairs compliment the ambiance.
The customised wall radiators have been brought in with the sculptural wrought iron lamp fittings from William Yeoward. Enjoy the Relais & Chateaux experience whilst perusing through their mouth-watering yearbook found in the hall lounge.
The ever-popular classical courtyard restaurant dining room has been given a contemporary kick! The burnt orange of the Brunschwig wallpaper draws the guest’s eye through the hotel from the entrance hall on entering the front door. We are looking forward to completing the refurbishment of the entrance hall this coming year.
With very few soft furnishings the Altfield grass cloth adds texture and a soft finish to the room, perfectly tied in colour and texture to the Danish blue oak boards of the floor. Lelievre and Zimmer & Rohde bold textures and patterns add to the contrast with the black Showood armchairs. Sculptural lighting from Porta Romana and Ecco trading suggest an art deco influence.
